Supercars are officially a Baltimore thing now. On Tuesday, October 6, British luxury automaker McLaren held the grand opening of its first-ever U.S. vehicle processing center at Tradepoint Atlantic in Sparrows Point — and Governor Wes Moore was on hand to roll out the welcome mat.
The state-of-the-art center represents an investment of more than $10 million — the largest commitment McLaren has made anywhere in the nation. There, McLaren supercars bound for the company’s 26 U.S. dealerships get their final preparation, rigorous quality checks, and customer personalization before delivery.
The best part for Baltimore: new, high-quality jobs. The facility is hiring highly skilled automotive technicians along with paint, logistics, and management personnel — exactly the kind of well-paid, technical work the region’s workforce does best.
