Signal Station North Wins $150K NEA Grant to Light Up the Arts District

The short version: Ahoy, Baltimore! Big news for Station North — a $150,000 National Endowment for the Arts Our Town grant, one of 57 awarded nationally, is backing Signal Station North, a project to light up the Station North Arts & Entertainment District.

Led by the Neighborhood Design Center, the effort will create a public-space lighting plan for the district, along with light-based art and DIY lighting projects. Partners include MICA, Central Baltimore Partnership, Baltimore Arts Realty Corporation, and Station North Arts & Entertainment District, Inc.

The three-year project, led by designers at Flux Studio, draws on North Avenue’s neon past and on gatherings like Light City and the Great Halloween Lantern Parade — a bright future for one of Baltimore’s most creative corridors.
