The short version: Ahoy, Baltimore! After 100 days spent listening to students, families, educators and community members, Baltimore City Public Schools CEO Dr. Jermaine Dawson has shared what he learned — and the shared vision that will shape the district’s future.
More than 800 people attended one of the nine in-person and virtual sessions on Dawson’s First 100 Days Listening and Learning Tour, and nearly 440 more answered the online survey. Three messages came through across the city: protect what works, make the everyday run smoothly, and build schools every neighborhood believes in. To bring those voices to life, Dawson unveiled an installation of hundreds of handwritten sticky-note words collected at the sessions — and added the final word himself: “possibility,” because, he said, “I want every student in Baltimore to see a future filled with opportunities.”
Next, a transition team of students, staff, families and national experts will meet three times between November and January to turn that feedback into recommendations, guiding the district’s strategic direction with one goal: every student graduating career-ready, future-ready and world-ready.
