The short version: Ahoy, Baltimore! Baltimore City teachers are set for raises — the Board of School Commissioners and the Baltimore Teachers Union have approved a new two-year agreement that lifts pay, boosts stipends and supports the educators our students count on every day.
The deal, approved by the board on October 21, provides across-the-board raises of 2% in fiscal 2027 and 2.3% in fiscal 2028. Counting the typical annual step increases, most union members can expect their total pay to rise about 10.3% over the two years. The agreement also increases pay for work outside the regular school day, raises stipend rates, and revises 39 sections of the contract to clarify policies and improve staff members’ work experience. The district and union will also work together on health care costs while keeping employee premiums affordable.
Board Chair Robert Salley said the agreement “demonstrates how much we value the professionals who make a difference in student achievement every day,” and CEO Dr. Jermaine Dawson called educators essential to the district’s mission — with district leaders pointing to the cost of living and the importance of keeping great teachers in Baltimore classrooms.
