Amtrak has awarded the first round of community grants tied to its Frederick Douglass Tunnel project, funding parks, digital skills training, after-school programs, and streetscape improvements in West Baltimore. Recipients include the Edmondson Community Organization, which will help build a park, and Parity Baltimore, turning vacant houses into affordable homes. The grants are part of a $50 million investment program meant to make sure nearby neighborhoods feel the positive impacts of the $6 billion rail project.Source: The Baltimore Banner
