Cruise-Themed Jamaican-Chinese Fusion Restaurant Blü Cā Docks at Baltimore Peninsula

All aboard, foodies! Baltimore Peninsula welcomed a brand-new dining destination yesterday: Blü Cā (pronounced “blue kay”), a cruise-ship-themed Jamaican-Chinese fusion restaurant, held its ribbon-cutting ceremony at 2450 Rye St. and opens to the public later this month.

The menu sails on a fascinating history — Chinese culinary influences in Jamaica dating back to the 1800s — with dishes like General Tso’s cauliflower and oxtail chow mein. Cocktails include the Port of Spice, a tropical rum punch, plus a bourbon-and-passion-fruit spin on the porn star martini. Guests can dine in cabin-like alcoves with teal blue upholstery or mill around an oblong bar.

Blü Cā is the first Baltimore outpost for the One Love Restaurant Group — the same crew behind the flight-themed KŌNŌKŌ in White Marsh — run by co-owner Di’Andra Tucker with her parents, Jazz and Sandy Tucker. Gov. Wes Moore’s office even sent a citation, presented by Luis V. McSween of the governor’s commission on Caribbean affairs, and Comptroller Bill Henry stopped by to cheer the momentum.

The neighborhood is heating up, mateys: Urbano Mexican Fare opened this summer, and a noodle bar and karaoke spot are on the way.
