Baltimore medicine just got a high-tech upgrade, mateys. Sinai Hospital has begun using Sepsis ImmunoScore, an FDA-authorized AI diagnostic tool designed to help clinicians identify patients who have — or are at risk of developing — sepsis.
The tool analyzes up to 22 clinical and laboratory measurements and generates a risk score assessing whether a patient has or is at risk of developing sepsis within 24 hours. It’s integrated directly into Sinai Hospital’s electronic health record and used alongside clinical assessments, lab findings, and physician judgment.
Sinai was one of just 10 research centers nationwide that contributed patient samples to the database of more than 100,000 samples used to develop and validate the technology. Earlier detection means earlier treatment — and lives saved right here in Baltimore. Sources: Becker’s Hospital Review: Baltimore hospital deploys 1st-of-its-kind tool for earlier sepsis detection
